Smoke, fire, sparking, a burning smell, shock or a downed line: hang up and call 911That line is fixed. For a downed line it adds: stay well back, assume it's live, and tell the utility. Utilities advise about 10 metres, or 33 feet. Your utility's own wording can go in the script.
Urgent but not life-safety: live transferA warm or buzzing outlet with no smoke or smell, half the house dark with kids at home. Riley transfers to your on-call phone in the order you set. If nobody picks up, the on-call gets a text and the caller gets a callback time you approved.
Breaker-off wording: yours or noneSome owners let Riley say "switch that one breaker off and leave the cover on." Some want only "don't touch it; call 911 if it smokes." It never tells anyone to open a panel cover or do electrical work.
Code, permit and diagnosis questions go to your officePermit rules change by city, state and province. Riley says your electrician handles the permit and inspection where one's required, if that's true for you, and books the visit. "Is that to code?" gets a message to your office.
Prices only from your sheetYour service-call fee and what it covers, your after-hours rate if you give one. Everything else: "the electrician confirms on site." It never guesses what a panel swap or a 240 circuit costs.
EV chargers: the right questions, no rebate talkAttached garage? How far from the panel? Panel size, if they know it? Supplying the charger or want one? Then a photo link by text. It never promises a tax credit or a rebate amount; those programs change without notice.
Insurer letters: record, don't judge"My insurer says replace the Federal Pacific panel in 30 days." Riley notes the brand and the deadline and books the estimate. It makes no safety claim about any brand.
Storm modeAfter a storm, calls stack. Storm mode puts the safety triage first, books a waitlist you control, and your summary texts keep coming. It never promises a time you didn't open.
911 first, every timeAnyone in danger is told to hang up and call 911 first, because 911 sends fire, police and ambulance. Then you get a text with everything the caller said.
